Kids's Share Workshops, funding free arts and writing workshops for children worldwide
As you may know, Jeanne is on the Board of Directors of Kids Share Workshops , Inc., and spends a good part of her time working to bring free art and writing workshops to schools in Vermont and abroad.
Kids Share Workshops strives, through literacy and the visual arts, to create a unique cross-cultural environment in which children of all ages, abilities, and experience can feel free to imagine, create, and welcome the arts into their lives. We connect children in Vermont to children living in other cultures. We do this by teaming up with Vermont classrooms who are excited to co-create a Kids Share Global Book with another culture. We believe children of the world can learn how to be better global citizens by experiencing the power of co-creating and learning about one another through art and writing. Please visit Kids Share Workshops website to learn more about how we help KIDS SHARE!
Last year our workshops were held at the Union Elementary School (Montpelier, VT) and Thatcher Brook Primary School (Waterbury, VT) with our overseas school being an SOS Children's Village in Bylakuppe, India. Together, the kids wrote a wonderful, full color book, which we published for them: Kids Share: Tibetan and Vermont Children’s Narratives. To view more details of our first book, please go to: www.blurb.com/books/689571 or www.KidsShareWorkshops.org
This school year, 2009-2010, the Vermont school is the River Rock School, a kindergarten through 8th grade school renowned for it's "Handcrafted Education". The partner location is in the village of San Ramon, Nicaragua. The project that we are financially supporting there is the renovation of a Cultural House to provide coffee grower’s children a place to be creative! Currently, children living in this location have no cultural activities outside of school.
Our fundraising activity is the sale of the book that we have published for the Vermont and Nicaraguan kids, called Kids Share: Nicaraguan and Vermont Children’s Narratives. It is an 8x10 inch, full color soft-bound book of over 70 pages. If you order through this website only (GeniesVT.com), the price for this amazing sharing of stories and drawings between Vermont Kids and Nicaraguan Kids is only $18.
All profits from these sales will benefit KIDS, both in Vermont and abroad. Please consider the children that you know and love, and share with them one of our books so that they might SHARE in this year's journey!
