For those of you who are familiar with the Meadows area of Montpelier, you'll appreciate the sense of community and a time when porches provided the backbone for evening chats and keeping up with your neighbors.  Our duplex in this historical area is very typical of the area. Nothing inside this home is quite what might be expected. There are two doors to choose from when entering; one goes straight into the spacious kitchen while the other brings you into a tiny front hallway and the stairs to the second floor. Set in a circle of sorts, the first floor has the kitchen with a walk-in pantry, dining room, sitting area and living room. Upstairs are the two bedrooms and a charming bathroom.
While this apartment comes unfurnished, it holds the charm of the era with its gorgeous wood floors, tasteful wall colors, and wandering feel. No doubt your furnishings will simply add to the ambiance, turning the space into something for you to enjoy as your own.
Located at the base of Hubbard Park in the Meadows, about a third of a mile from downtown Montpelier, this apartment includes access to a basement washer/dryer, off-street parking, basement storage and, if desired, garden space (the current tenant has planted two lovely areas, including a sitting area out back). And don't forget the covered porch looking out onto Holmes Court.
We are energy conscious owners. Two years ago, the building was fully
weatherized (with guidance from the Vermont Weatherization Program) from basement to attic. We also supply energy efficient
light bulbs and appliances as well as programmable thermostats for the
central heat provided by an energy efficient furnace.
Cable and DSL high speed internet are available, if the
renter chooses. Sorry, our insurance does not allow smoking of any kind.
This apartment is currently available to rent UNFURNISHED for $1030, with heat and electricity billed separately. We
expect the home will be available in mid December, 2011.
